Comfortable and durable jeans maker Lee Jeans is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the program that encourages employees to wear jeans to work in exchange for a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation where funds are used for breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs. In addition to raising much needed funding, places of employment from coast to coast will also be honoring breast cancer survivors and hosting educational activities.

"There is still time to sign up and participate in the 10-year anniversary of Lee National Denim Day. The next two weeks are very important to this program because it is during this time that companies are engaging employees in activities and spreading the life-saving message of early detection," said Kathy Collins, vice president of marketing communications for Lee Jeans. "Lee National Denim Day is about celebrating the power of individuals, coming together to make a difference."

Last year, more than 27,500 companies and organizations helped raise more than $8.5 million in a single day. Since its inception in 1996, Lee National Denim Day has raised more than $52 million for breast cancer programs. The goal this year is to raise $10 million in a single day.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1982 by Nancy Brinker to honor the memory of her sister, Susan G. Komen, who died from breast cancer at the age of 36. The Foundation is the nation's largest private funding source for breast cancer research and community programs. In addition to funding research, Komen Affiliates fund innovative and collaborative breast cancer education, screening and treatment projects for the medically underserved in communities across the country.

Kansas based, founded in 1889, Lee Jeans is a leading international retailer and manufacturer of workwear, western wear and casual wear. Lee's products fall under the Lee Jeans, Lee Riveted, Lee Dungarees, One True Fit and Lee 1889 brand names. Headquartered in Merriam, Kansas, near Kansas City, Lee Jeans currently employs more than 400 people across the United States.
