Marchon to design & distribute CKI's eyewear collection

Calvin Klein Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Phillips-Van Heusen Corporation announced that as of October 1st, Marchon Eyewear Inc will have the exclusive license for Japan to design, manufacture, and distribute both the Calvin Klein Collection and the ck Calvin Klein sun and ophthalmic eyewear lines.
This announcement serves to further the company's relationship with Marchon who has held the license for the Calvin Klein Collection and ck Calvin Klein sunwear and ophthalmic lines for all countries with the exception of Japan since 1992.
CKI's eyewear license for Japan was previously held by Nikon Eyewear Co Ltd who announced in September 2007 that the company plans to exit the eyewear business, but will continue to provide service for all Calvin Klein products that they have supplied to the market.
Calvin Klein Collection eyewear was first launched in Japan in 1995, followed by the introduction of ck Calvin Klein eyewear in the region in 1997.
The new Japanese eyewear business will be overseen by Marchon's Vice President & Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Fred Humphrey.
The first ck Calvin Klein product produced by Marchon will debut in Japan at the 21st International Optical Fair Tokyo (IOFT). Held later this year from October 1st to 3rd, IOFT is Asia's largest optical industry tradeshow. The Calvin Klein Collection eyewear offering will be previewed shortly thereafter.
