Merchandise categories performs well at Neiman Marcus store

Nation's departmental store merchandiser The Neiman Marcus Group Inc announced sales results for September 2005.

The total revenues increases 9.2 percent as compare to 2004 year at $397 million.

Comparable revenues for the five weeks ended October 2, 2004 exclude the sales of Chef's Catalog prior to its disposition in November 2004.

In the five-week September period, comparable revenues in the Specialty Retail Stores segment, which includes Neiman Marcus Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, increased 10.5 percent. Revenue growth trends were the strongest in the Company's stores in the Southeast and West.

The merchandise categories in the Specialty Retail Stores segment that performed well included women's designer apparel and contemporary sportswear, jewelry, designer handbags, home decor and men's.

Comparable revenues at Neiman Marcus Direct in the five-week September period increased 10.4 percent. The top selling merchandise categories in the Direct Marketing segment included women's apparel and shoes, handbags and men's.

The Company's five-week reporting period is consistent with last year and reflects a 4-5-4 week first quarter.

The Neiman Marcus Group Inc offers upscale assortments of apparel, accessories, jewelry, beauty and decorative home products to the affluent consumer. The operations include the Specialty Retail Stores segment and the Direct Marketing segment. The Specialty Retail Stores segment consists primarily of Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman stores. The Direct Marketing segment conducts both print catalog and online operations under the Neiman Marcus, Horchow, and Bergdorf Goodman brand names.
