In the first quarter of 2008, above-scale luggage enterprises of China achieved a total industrial output value of 15.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21 percent, two percentage points slow in growth.
Production of natural leather bags registered 170 million pieces, down 2 percent from the same time last year.
During the period, China's exports of travel goods and luggage marked US $2.65 billion, a rise of 22 percent from the same time last year, although there was two percentage points of slowdown in growth.
Imports registered $120 million, a surge of 70 percent with 38 percentage points faster in growth rate, as compared to the same time of 2007.
