FDO names Jacob Modla VP – Deputy General Counsel

Family Dollar Stores Inc announced that it has promoted Jacob J. Modla to the position of Vice President (VP) – Deputy General Counsel. Mr. Modla will continue to report to Janet Kelley, Senior Vice President and General Counsel.
“At Family Dollar, we are committed to developing and promoting talent from within our Company, and I am pleased to recognize Jake's leadership and contributions to Family Dollar,” said Ms. Kelley. “In his new role, Jake will continue to utilize his experience and expertise to enhance our operational efforts to avoid and manage litigation risks.”
Mr. Modla began his career with Family Dollar in 2004 as Assistant General Counsel - Litigation. Prior to joining Family Dollar, Mr. Modla spent fourteen years in private practice with the law firm of Haynsworth Baldwin (now Ogltree Deakins). Mr. Modla earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina.
