Retailer DOUGLAS sales up 5.7% to 2.42bn EUR

Fashion: Appelrath-Cüpper on course for expansion
Sales in the Fashion division rose by 39.6 percent during the year for a total of 178 million EUR. In this context, it should be noted that sales at Pohland have been fully included in the consolidated sales for the first time this year – following the Group's acquisition of the remaining interest in the company at January 1, 2005.

Sales at the 13 fashion stores operated by Appelrath-Cüpper rose by 10.7 percent to 141 million EUR. The three new locations opened in Hamburg (September 2004), Münster (March 2005) and Karlsruhe (September 2005) also contributed to this trend. Appelrath-Cüpper is currently expanding as rapidly as at almost any time in its history.

The menswear specialist Pohland posted sales of 54 million EUR during the period under review (10/01/04 – 09/30/05). Following the successful opening of its new menswear store in Dortmund (March 2005) and the twin locations in Cologne (August and September 2005), further Pohland venues are due to be upgraded along similar lines in the near future and re-opened featuring a new shopping ambiance.
