Sought after by prestigious outlets from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, who carries their Marine jewelry line, to the National Archives, where their Presidential Pets line includes
famous felines Clinton's "Socks" and Jimmy Carter's Siamese "Misty Malarky Ying Yang" and their jewelry is "the best bling-bling for dog lovers, paws down!," including Gerald Ford's Golden Retriever, "Liberty," Ronald Reagan's Cavalier King Charles "Rex," and Franklin D. Roosevelt's Scottish Terrier "Fala."

Anne & Jane's Sweet Pea Silver jewelry, established in San Francisco, California, in 1988, celebrates the 20th year of their original line of sterling silver hand-colored pins, pendants, charms, chains, boxes and bracelets, earrings, necklaces, hair clips and watch bracelets.

"We all feel that beautiful things are good for the soul," Jane says. "When creating, we seem to tap into a different part of the brain from the one you use to manage the business side of things. We laugh a lot when we are designing."

Jane studied graphic design at California State University, Chico. Anne earned her bachelor's degree in design from the University of California at Davis.

Jane was lured into a partnership by Anne while working as a textile artist for the innovative San Francisco-based clothing company Esprit de Corp in the late '80s.

Carrots, beets and onions earrings have been featured in Smith and Hawken and Shepherd's Garden Seeds; a bear catching salmon pin in the Nature Conservancy Catalog; and their Democratic donkey and Republican elephant pins are sold in the National Senate Gift Store in Washington, D.C.

The originality that established their success started with growing up on a farm whose almond orchards were watered by streams from the Sierra Nevada, a location that fed their imaginations and creativity as well.

Caring for animals and encountering wildlife on nearby excursions inspired their designs of animals and nature themes, such as a lovely autumn line.

Not only nature but also nursery rhymes and holidays have been the source of angels, heart pendants, bracelets and whimsical bunny pins.

Some designs were inspired from animal motifs found in Pre-Columbian designs in Mexico. Anne was introduced to the silver jewelry business while studying Spanish in Mexico. For the next four years Anne lived, worked and studied jewelry design in the city of Taxco, Mexico.

"We have been working with 3 family studios in Taxco, Mexico, who have hand-made our jewelry brilliantly since the beginning," Anne says.

Celebrities have gone for Anne & Jane's jewelry, too. Their "Singing in the Rain" earrings have been seen in an episode of "Beverly Hills 90210," and a "30-Something" character was often seen wearing one of their pins, including the coyote howling at the moon. Pet pins are popular with celebrities in all walks of life who love their animals, not only the presidents!
