Manolo Blahnik to receive Rodeo Drive Walk of Style award

The Rodeo Drive Committee and the City of Beverly Hills have announced that Manolo Blahnik is to be the twelfth recipient of the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style award. Blahnik will accept his reward at a special event in Beverly Hills on 25 September, 2008 during which he will be honoured with a permanent plaque that features his quote and signature placed in the pavement of the world-renowned Rodeo Drive.

“Manolo Blahnik is an icon of fashion, and his name is synonymous with very beautiful, feminine, sexy and coveted footwear,” says Peri Ellen Berne, Co-Chair of the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style. “His must have shoes command respect from the fashion industry and desire from avid consumers alike,” continues Susan Moseley, Co-Chair of the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style.

“Manolo Blahnik elevates footwear to art, both through the style and beauty of his designs as well as their architecture and engineering. And that level of passion and craftsmanship is what the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Award is all about,” states Beverly Hills Mayor, Barry Brucker. “The city of Beverly Hills is pleased to make a lasting homage to Manolo Blahnik's talent through his permanent recognition on Rodeo Drive.”
