Rabia Yalcin to showcase natural luxury fashion at NYFW

Turkish haute couture designer Rabia Yalcin has already achieved unprecedented recognition for her glamorous designs and talent for detail. Now, in her newest collection, she explores the use of natural fabrics and organic fibers created from recycled materials that showcase the luxury in earthly-friendly initiatives.
Her collection, which will debut during New York's Couture Fashion Week 2008 this September, presents the sensual and green side of the designer. Ms. Yalcin's new work represents a synthesis of the Eastern Roman and Ottoman Empires. She blends the strong silhouettes and powerful color of the West with the delicate intricacies of the East, for a collection inspired by the rich cultures that inhabited the city of Istanbul.
Motifs of Eastern Roman royalty are juxtaposed with the undertones of the Orient, creating an element of subtle unpredictability. Textured fabrics like velvet and lace add dimension to warm hues of burgundy, bordeaux, and crimson, subdued by a number of Roman-inspired pieces in ethereal whites and creams. The combination draws a contrast in moods with both strong and seductive elements.
The highly anticipated fashion show will be held on Saturday September 6, 2008 in the Majestic Ballroom of the Westin Times Square in the heart of New York City. Ms. Yalcin's fashion show at last year's Couture Fashion Week at the St. Regis was enthusiastically received by the attending audience and received widespread press coverage and favorable reviews (photos from the show).
Understanding the wishes of her longstanding clients, Rabia Yalcin customizes each garment to not only meet the needs of the event, but also to reflect their personalities and spirit. “Fashion should not confine women, but rather nurture their individuality and enhance their unique beauty and spirit. What's most important to me is that the soul of my customer is reflected in the piece I design,” comments Rabia Yalcin.
Truly an artist of fashion, Ms. Yalcin sees the woman's body as her canvas, fabric as her paint and thread as her brush. Each Rabia Yalcin design is individually inspired by the multitude of emotions and experiences of every woman, an insight echoed in Rabia's personal motto, “My spirit inside reflects that of many.”
