Audiences at the upcoming Couture Fashion Week event in New York City will not only be dazzled by the exquisite fashions on the runway, but also by a roster of world-class entertainers. The three-day event, to be held September 5, 6 and 7, 2008, will present the latest collections by designers from countries including Romania, Egypt, Turkey, India, Colombia, Albania, Australia and the USA in the Majestic Ballroom of the elegant Westin Times Square Hotel, in the heart of the Big Apple.
One of the stellar performers scheduled to appear at Couture Fashion Week is singer Lara Janine who performed at last season's event to a delighted and enthusiastic audience.
Lara Janine, a "quadruple threat" (singer, actor, dancer and musician) and summa cum laude graduate from USC's Music Business program, is a native of Southern California.
She recently returned to the States after a run as Elphaba in a special version of Wicked in Japan, while also performing her own music in the club scene.
Other credits include Jasmine in Aladdin the Musical and Otilie in Dvorak in America to rave reviews. Her new album, It's My Time, interweaves her classical piano and violin skills with hip-hop, and also features her songwriting skills, as Lara wrote or co-wrote every track.
Lara Janine's songs have been featured on Access Hollywood, Degrassi, Big Tunes 2008 Compilation, and How Do I Look? among others, and have garnered numerous accolades at the Orange County Music Awards.
Recently signed to On Track Sound, she is currently in the studio writing and recording new material for her upcoming release.
A regular singer of the national anthem for Stanley Cup champions, The Anaheim Ducks, Lara's beautiful voice can also be heard on many Barbie commercials for Mattel, and she is the voice of the singing Barbie Doll, Princess Anneliese, and the singing voice of Melody in the upcoming movie, Barbie and the Diamond Castle.
You can also catch her on TV in the new national Applebee's commercial. Recent shows include Todd Schroeder's Young Artist Grant Benefit Concert, and numerous appearances on the New York music scene (Webster Hall, Don't Tell Mama, The Cutting Room, Friars Club, Iguanas, among others).
