Henkel sponsors 'Stick or Treat' Halloween Costume Contest

Aug '08
According to the National Retail Federation's 2007 Halloween Consumer Intentions and Actions Survey, consumers spent $1.82 billion on costumes.

But, why spend a lot of money on a boring, generic costume that looks like so many others? Wouldn't it be better to create a one-of-a-kind costume that nobody else has and gives you a chance to win cash for your original design?

In its third year, the Duck brand duct tape "Stick or Treat" Halloween Costume Contest challenges participants to get creative and make or accessorize a costume out of duct tape. And not to worry, these homemade costumes require no sewing!

Beginning on August 18, 2008, entrants can submit a photo of their costume to Duck brand duct tape for a chance to win the first place $500 cash prize.

Accepted entries will be posted online and first, second and third place winners will be announced around October 29, 2008.

Last year, Stan Johnson from Waukesha, Wis, earned first place by turning to his workbench for inspiration - donning a handy duct tape "Tape Measure" costume.

The sticky creation, made from rolls of gray, yellow and black duct tape, outdid 49 homemade ensembles from the United States and Canada.

Duck brand duct tape is available in 20 colors and patterns, and with colors like Island Lime and Blaze Orange, camouflage and chrome, the choices for costume creativity are endless!

Sponsored by Henkel Corporation, the Duck brand duct tape "Stick or Treat" Halloween Costume Contest will reward participants for their creativity and originality in creating or accessorizing their Halloween costume with duct tape.

The first place winner will receive a cash prize of $500, the second place winner will receive $250 and the third place winner will receive $100.

Interested participants should for official contest rules. The contest starts on August 18, 2008. Contestants are required to submit a color photograph of themselves wearing their duct tape Halloween costume and other documents as noted in the contest rules. All entries must be received by October 10, 2008.

During the contest period, accepted entries can be viewed. Entries will be posted in the order they are received.

Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and will be judged on a number of criteria, including workmanship, originality, use of colors, accessories and quantity of duct tape used. Winners will be announced around October 29, 2008.

Duck brand duct tape is available nationally at mass merchandise, hardware and craft retailers. Duck brand duct tape is available in 20 colors and patterns, including aqua, camouflage, fluorescent green, pink, orange and yellow, standard silver, and an assortment of other traditional colors such as red, yellow, black and blue. More information on where to buy Duck brand duct tape is listed.
