GLOBAL SHOES – leading trade show for sourcing sharpens its profile. For the first time ever the No.1 trade fair for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and volume suppliers will run at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 11 to 13 September 2008 i.e. one day out of sync with the shoe fair GDS – International Event for Shoes & Accessories (12 to 14 September).

Explaining the changed order of days Director Kirstin Deutelmoser said: “The days the event is held, from Thursday to Saturday now gives bulk and volume buyers an even better opportunity to visit the trade fair on a workday.”

Altogether just under 449 exhibitors from 18 countries will occupy 25,000 m² in Halls 8a and 8b showcasing a wide range of women's, men's, children's and sports shoes but also casual and wellness footwear.

And GLOBAL SHOES continues along its charted course towards further qualifying its ranges. Kirstin Deutelmoser: “GLOBAL SHOES is a representative reflection of the market for volume business. Nearly all key suppliers will be part of the game in Düsseldorf in September.

Which is why we will continue to limit the ranges quantitively and intend to focus on quality when it comes to the choice of exhibitors with a view to offering buyers the most optimised mix of products possible.”

As a special trade fair highlight and get together for industry insiders and top traders there will be a GLOBAL SHOES VIP Buyers Dinner organised as part of GLOBAL SHOES for the first time (Thursday, 11 September, 7.00 pm, Radisson SAS Hotel).

As a keynote speaker Matt Rubel, Chairman, CEO and President Collective Brands Inc, was enlisted to speak on the topic “Maximising Opportunities with a Global, Multi-Brand, Multi-Channel Portfolio Strategy”.

With his well over 4,600 shops and the Divisions Payless ShoeSource, The Stride Rite Corporation and Collective Licensing International, Matt Rubel is considered one of the key, innovative personalities in the industry. With his visions on the global development of the shoe sector Rubel has already caused a stir worldwide.

India's importance for the international shoe and leather industry will be at the focus of the presentation of the Indian CLE – Council for Leather Export on the Friday of the trade fair (3.00 pm, Hall 8a, Buyers Lounge).

According to data provided by the Council, India accounts for 14% of global shoe output worth US$ five billion and therefore ranks second after China by worldwide comparison.

Mukhtarul Amin, Chairman of the CLE, will explain the current situation in the Indian shoe and leather industry and show development paths for the future.

Following the presentation the CLE will invite visitors to Indian “treasures” at the Information stand. The forthcoming GDS will be held at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre from 12 to 14 September 2008.

GLOBAL SHOES will run for the first time now one day out of sync with GDS from 11 to 13 September 2008. A total of 1,269 exhibitors from 40 countries (current as of 21/08/2008) will be presenting their new shoe and bag collections for Spring/Summer 2009 and trends for the current season.
