American Eagle Outfitters Inc announced that total sales for the four weeks ended August 30, 2008 increased 3% to $320.0 million, compared to $311.3 million for the four weeks ended September 1, 2007.
Comparable store sales decreased 5% for the month, compared to a 9% increase for the same period last year.
Total sales for the 30 weeks ended August 30, 2008 increased 1% to $1.649 billion, compared to $1.627 billion for the 30 weeks ended September 1, 2007.
Comparable stores sales decreased 7% for the year-to-date period compared to the same 30 week period last year.
The company maintained its third quarter EPS guidance of $0.31 to $0.36, compared to $0.45 per share last year.
