World Gold Council appoints Aram Shishmanian as CEO
Sep '08
World Gold Council (WGC) has announced the appointment of Aram Shishmanian as incoming Chief Executive Officer. Mr Shishmanian will join WGC for a transitional period in mid-October, while current CEO, James E. Burton, will continue to lead the organisation until mid-December when he will leave to return to his native California.

Aram Shishmanian has spent his entire career at Accenture, the largest global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing firm in the world (its clients include more than two thirds of the Fortune Global 500), where he has held a number of senior positions, culminating in becoming a senior partner and head of the global financial markets practice. He currently serves on the Board of several major organisations.

Commenting on his appointment, Gregory C. Wilkins, Chairman of World Gold Council, said: “I am delighted to welcome Aram Shishmanian to WGC. His proven skills and experience will ensure that this organisation continues the strong momentum it has built up over recent years and is ready to face the inevitable challenges the gold industry will face in future.”

Aram Shishmanian said: “I am proud to have been given this important and challenging role and look forward to leading this organisation and its talented team and to taking World Gold Council and its leadership role in the gold market on to the next level of development.”
