Fashion Design Council of India announced that distinguished designer Rina Dhaka will participate at the prestigious London Fashion Week scheduled from September 14 – 19, 2008. Rina's collections were selected after scrutiny by a group of stringent jury members.

Rina will showcase her collection in The Exhibition @ London Fashion Week scheduled from September 15 – 18, 2008. The Exhibition plays host to over 210 top British and international ready-to-wear and accessory designers ranging from the edgy and cool to the contemporary and commercial.

London Fashion Week is a creative hub for designers across the globe unveiling their collections to a professional audience of media and buyers who visit the capital from the UK and cities across the globe. Alongside this prestigious and high-profile event runs The Exhibition @ London Fashion Week: the British Fashion Council's official exhibition of fashion design talent.

Rina Dhaka is India's leading fashion designer who shot into the fashion limelight in late 1980s. Winner of the Yuva Ratna Award, she is counted among the most creative and innovative designers of the country. In the past, she has held shows in London, Paris, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, and Jakarta.

Her designs are available at Carma – Delhi, Design Studio – Mumbai, Kimaya – Mumbai, Selfridges – London, Coin – Italy and Lord and Taylor – New York. She is also a regular participant at India's only business of fashion event – Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.

Congratulating Rina for her participation at the London Fashion Week, Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI, said, “Rina is one of the eminent designers in the Indian fashion industry. I am glad that she is taking Indian fashion to global platforms from strength to strength and is conquering both American and European markets. I congratulate her and wish her the very best as she gears up to participate at the London Fashion Week.”

Said Rina Dhaka, “Organised by The British Fashion Council, London Fashion Week is presented bi-annually and is the first stop on the European leg of the Ready-to-Wear collections circuit. The Exhibition at London Fashion Week runs alongside this high-profile event.

I am delighted to represent Indian fashion at LFW. This season I am participating at the Exhibition and in the coming season I will showcase my collection on the runway of LFW.”
