The grand opening of the store began with a ribbon cut by CEO Rolf Eriksen and Christine Edman, H&M's country manager in Japan, which led the 5000 people who queued to flow into the sparkling new store.

“It has been H&M's dream to open in Japan. I am therefore very proud to say that we now have our first store in Tokyo. Japan is a strategic and exciting market with great fashion awareness. We hope that we can offer our Tokyo customers added value through fashion and quality at the best price”, says Rolf Eriksen, CEO H&M.

A reception party held on September 11th, gathered prominent figures of the fashion press, creators, celebrities, gathered together to celebrate the launch of H&M in Japan. Multitudes of flashbulbs greeted the glitzy guests, who dressed their personalities in H&M's various party styles, glamorizing the evening.
