H&M first store now finally open

This autumn's freshest and biggest news arrived in classiest shopping district in Tokyo, Ginza on September 13th 2008 11:00 am. H&M's much anticipated first store is now finally open.

The grand opening of the store began with a ribbon cut by CEO Rolf Eriksen and Christine Edman, H&M's country manager in Japan, which led the 5000 people who queued to flow into the sparkling new store.

“It has been H&M's dream to open in Japan. I am therefore very proud to say that we now have our first store in Tokyo. Japan is a strategic and exciting market with great fashion awareness. We hope that we can offer our Tokyo customers added value through fashion and quality at the best price”, says Rolf Eriksen, CEO H&M.

A reception party held on September 11th, gathered prominent figures of the fashion press, creators, celebrities, gathered together to celebrate the launch of H&M in Japan. Multitudes of flashbulbs greeted the glitzy guests, who dressed their personalities in H&M's various party styles, glamorizing the evening. The premier evening for Japan's very first H&M store left a strong impression on the Tokyo fashion scene.

H&M GINZA have approximately 1000 ? of sales area over four floors, from basement to 3rd floor, exhibiting Womens, Mens, and Accessories concepts. The interior, inspired by the store's surrounding, reflect the elegance of Ginza. Each floor fully utilizes the walls, creating a spacious impression by contrasting lights and solidity.

H&M's inspiration for autumn/winter 2008 are: world folk cultures, historic and contemporary art scenes. Romantic folklore and bohemian handicrafts, sleek and sporty essence found in details and textiles, retro tailoring in lines and structures, are a few sources of inspiration.
