The 20th Montana World of Wearable (WOW) Art Awards that commenced on September 26 is leaving the judges and onlookers amazed at the outstanding creations that are being displayed here by designers. Ornitho-Maia, a marvelous piece of garment by Nadine Jaggi has won the Supreme WOW Award.
The captivating and brilliant example of imagination won the Air New Zealand South Pacific section of the award before being crowned supreme winner at a ceremony in Wellington.
Ornitho-Maia, which means bird mother, was made using hand-dyed, hand-sewn, embossed and carved leather to create a unique feathered-look design that immediately caught the attention of everyone.
Nadine is a Massey University graduate from Wellington and she had won her first Wearable Art award in the student category in 2003. Since 2006 she is working at Weta Workshop and has assisted on projects like Prince Caspian and concept costumes for the Halo movie.
This year more than 189 entries have been recieved for taking part in this prestigious contest.
