Hervé Léger to receive Fashion Excellence Award

Dallas Market Center announced that the 2008 Fashion Excellence Award will be presented to Hervé Léger by Max Azria during the 33rd annual Dallas Fashion Awards on October 25, 2008. Designer Max Azria will be acknowledged along with manufacturers in eight apparel and accessories categories and Personal Style recipient Gianna Madrini during the gala. In addition, the event will feature the Dallas premiere of the Spring 2009 collection of Hervé Léger by Max Azria.

“Max Azria is a legendary fashion designer who has reenergized the Hervé Léger brand,” said Cindy Morris, COO, Dallas Market Center. “He's an industry leader and innovator who we are honored to salute during the Dallas Fashion Awards.”

In 1981, Azria moved to the United States after spending 11 years designing a line of women's wear in his native Paris. Once he arrived in the United States he launched a series of retail boutiques focusing on French fashion for the American woman. After much success with his line, Azria decided to open his own design house – BCBGMAXAZRIA in 1989.

BCBGMAXAZRIAGROUP has a portfolio of 22 brands ranging from Max Azria Atelier, the exclusive collection of couture gowns; Hervé Léger by Max Azria, marking the first time in history for a French couturier to be absorbed by an American designer; BCBGeneration, the young-contemporary lifestyle brand; and many more.

Azria re-launched the label during New York fashion week in the Fall of 2007 and quickly received critical praise and attention from renowned style-setters including Kate Bosworth, Kiera Knightley, Beyoncé Knowles, Rachel Bilson and Victoria Beckham.

The Fashion Excellence Award will be presented during the Dallas Fashion Awards gala on Saturday, October 25 at 6:30 p.m. in The Grand Pavilion at the Trade Mart. In addition to the awards presentation, Azria will show his Hervé Léger by Max Azria Spring 2009 collection on the runway.

Past recipients of the Fashion Excellence Award include Carmen Marc Valvo, Carolina Herrera, Diane Von Furstenberg, Escada, the house of Emilio Pucci, Geoffrey Beene, Gianni Versace, Hubert de Givenchy, InStyle magazine, James Galanos, Neiman Marcus, Richard Tyler and the Salvatore Ferragamo family.

All category finalists will be invited to design custom denim jackets, which will be auctioned in the spring at the Dallas Collective gala benefiting the Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA). Dallas Market Center will also host a silent auction benefiting the Fashion Group International Scholarship Fund during the gala.
