Raghavendra & Nikon unison brings classic style for adventurous men

When Nikon teamed up with top designer Raghavendra Rathore, the result was a merger that resulted in "The Rathore Nikon Style Sutra" Spring/Summer 2009 collection for men at Lakme Fashion Week.
Style directions came together in an interesting and classic way for men's wear. Inspired by the adventurous male who longs for the great outdoors from dawn to dusk, as he moves through his many adventures, Raghavendra's look was tailored to perfection with slick detailing.
There were minute touches of luxury with that classic appeal that only Raghavendra can create. The noticeable garment was the fishing and the photographer's vest which had inspired many of the looks; but at the same time there was a touch of the 50s fashionable macho man image that made men's wear so masculine and dapper during that era.
Between the parameters of the above two inspirations; Raghavendra created a myriad looks for jackets, shirts, waistcoats and kurtas. Multiple pockets were the constant detailing - at times nearly a dozen on each garment in different sizes.
Flaps went through some styling changes – geometric, square or round for patched and bellow versions of the pockets. The Jodhpur trousers and cargo pants were teamed with most of the top wear.
The jackets sported two or three button closures and were with or without vents. The colour story was obviously very controlled and muted. Black, white, sand, beige, coffee brown and grey were selected for linen, cotton, satin cotton and silk blends. Contrast piping appeared on jacket lapels or on shirt and kurta sleeves.
Trench coats were practical for the great outdoors and the waist coats were more utility items - at times hip length with pockets of course! To add to the masculine look of the 50s were epaulets which appeared on shirts, jackets and even kurtas.
Bollywood star Sameera Reddy who was the show stopper added a touch of glamour to the all-men's wear presentation.
