Vishwakarma is the God of arts and crafts.

Bandhej introduces a new range of luxury clothing, the Vishwakarma Collection, which celebrates the rich heritage of crafts and Indian textiles.

The collection has been designed by Archana Shah. She is a fashion designer with a difference, as she has a passion for Indian textiles and has created a distinct idiom with her designs in clothing for men and women.

She has a unique identity in the fashion world, as when she created her workshop BANDHEJ in Ahmedabad, it was one of the first 'designer' labels in the country.

This collection, of lehengas & sarees for weddings & special occasions, is a contemporary interpretation of the old royal costumes and uses rich traditional textiles like bandhani, brocades, silk jaquards, tanchois and zardozi embroidery and toi gota patti work from Jaipur (using pearls, crystals, stones & metallic thread work) for embellishments.

The present collection is available in bright pastels (peach, old rose, turquoise, parrots and pinks) as well as in deep-coloured rich brocades.

The sarees range from specially revived old traditional brocades from Benaras to the Asavali sarees of Gujarat to an auspicious collection of rich bandhani and laheria sarees detailed with toi gota work.

There is also on offer a more contemporary range of mookesh and embroidered sarees with brocade cholis, along with a special range of designer panetars – the traditional off-white wedding saree with an auspicious red border, richly embellished in gold metallic embroidery.

There is something on offer for every age group, with a focus on the young ladies and brides. The Vishwakarma collection will be available only at our flag ship store in Mithakhali, Ahmedabad for the present.

In addition to this Bandhej now offers specially designed and custom-make trousseau collections for weddings and special occasions.

On Bandhej:
The BANDHEJ brand stands for well priced handcrafted fashion, offered in contemporary silhouettes with an Indian sensibility.

Since 1985 when the first BANDHEJ store opened in Ahmedabad, BANDHEJ has created a distinct idiom in its designs and a unique identity for itself.

BANDHEJ was one of the first 'designer' labels in the country, which while drawing upon the Indian heritage in textiles also reflected a very contemporary sensibility in the design of its fabrics and clothing for men and women.

Even as the main business of BANDHEJ has been to design and produce a range of clothing for its retail outlets catering to an urban market, the underlying concern has always been with the diverse traditions of fabric making and embellishing in India.

It has strived to work with crafts people towards improving their crafts, building upon their skills and knowledge by suggesting contemporary design directions and providing a market for their produce. In the process, BANDHEJ has played a modest role in rejuvenating many dying traditional crafts.
