Subtle styles tailored to stun audience at Fashion Week

China International Fashion Week, which kicked off in Beijing, on November 5, officially ended on November 12, 2008, with China Fashion Golden Prize.

More than 800 models presented outfits for over 30 famous brands from home and abroad, including Cabbean men's clothing, NE.Tiger, Jordan sportswear and Maryma Series.

Around 40 fashion couturiers and 150 new talents displayed over 60 new collections during the week.

This year's show reflected an elegant atmosphere, as designers opted for soothing and smart styles instead of flamboyant and flashy fashion.

Shades of black, white and green were dominant hues throughout the Week.

For instance Aimer's show, themed 'new simplicity', offered Spring/Summer 2009 collection christened 'Discovery'. The attires flaunted simple clean cuts and few pleats, with hardly and floral prints and dazzling embellishments. Colour pallet included subtle shades of purple, green, white and black.

Amidst current global recession, balanced consumption has become a theme for many designers. Xu Yanzhen, designer of the 'Discovery', explained to that the collection promoted simple lifestyle.

Even the high-end cashmere brand, Erdos, is in the process of transforming its showy image and present chic ensemble at affordable prices.

Mark Cheung, the Chinese fashion icon who has always shown keen interest in environment, this time, presented couture inspired by the Yangtze River. Blue, green, and black fabrics, with wavy patterns and innovative designs were bound to make an impression in the viewers' minds!
