US leading moissanite maker Charles & Colvard is manufacturing moissanite which is used to make fine jewellery. Moissanite is near-colorless, with more fire, brilliance and luster than a fine diamond, but retails for only a fraction of the cost. Moissanite, also known by its chemical name, silicon carbide (SiC), is a rare, naturally occurring mineral found primarily in meteorites. As the sole manufacturer of scientifically made moissanite jewels, the Company is promoting a brand image that positions moissanite as a unique jewel based on its fire, brilliance, luster, durability and rarity.
