J C Penney ceases operation from Aussi land

J C Penney International Catalog Australia Pty Ltd (license holder of J C Penney for Australia) has terminated the international license agreement since November 20.
This termination came shortly after the US J C Penney company extended the license agreement period till the year 2014, informs Ms Sharon Hooker, operations manager at JPIC Australia Pty Ltd to Fibre2fashion.com.
She further stated, “This decision from the US came as a shock, as the site was just launched on September 1. It was reasonably expensive exercise to open up the office and put staff in place here.”
“The Australian team had worked hard for getting a grip on the market with maximum support from the people it's been easy. For the little advertising and marketing we've done, the orders we've taken in the last few months have been fantastic," Ms Hooker said.
