House of Graff unveils 18th largest diamond 'Letseng Legacy'

House of Graff, London the diamond jeweler extraordinaire, unveils the magnificent 493 carat rough “Letseng Legacy”, certified as the world's 18th largest diamond that was recently acquired by it, in a winning bid. The significant event marks its founder, Laurence Graff's quest to own the most fabulous jewels in the world as yet another resounding success.
The historic gem was found at the Letseng Diamond Mine in the Maluti Mountains in Lesotho, a kingdom surrounded by South Africa. At over 3000 meters above sea level, it ranks as the highest diamond mine in the world. The exceptional stone was named as 'The Letseng Legacy' to reflect the growing significance of the mine, which has produced three of the world's top 20 diamonds.
It was two years ago in 2006 that Graff bought the massive 603 Lesotho Promise and after months of careful deliberation, achieved the unprecedented yield of 26 D flawless diamonds. The coincidence of finding two enormous rough diamonds in such a short period is counted as truly extraordinary.
The event turns even more significant when both the diamonds are owned by a design house of Graff's status. Its experts will now spend months on studying and examining the diamond, using the latest computer technology and expertise, after which it will be cut and polished to the exacting quality standards Graff is renowned for.
