In sync with its aggressive expansion plans, Titan Eye+, the exclusive optical retail business from Titan Industries Ltd., has reached it's first important milestone - the opening of the 50th Titan Eye+ showroom in Kolkata, all in a span of less than 24 months of operation.

Speaking on the occasion of this achievement, Mr. Bhaskar Bhat, Managing Director, Titan Industries Limited, said, “Titan Eye+ is our venture aimed at redefining the eyewear market in India. Benchmarked against the best in the world, Titan Eye+ offers a huge choice of products, a completely new shopping experience, caring service and high quality products unheard of in the Indian market.

In a short period of time, the eyewear division has opened 50 stores – across the country. This is the fastest 50 that has ever been achieved in the history of Titan Industries Limited.”

Having embarked on the retail journey in March 2007, Titan Eye+ is altering the face of the eyewear industry by launching world-class optical stores across more than 20 locations. Within a short period of time, the company has established a pan India presence and has provided the marketplace with stylish products and exacting quality standards, unparalleled in India's eyewear industry.

On the occasion of the launch of the 50th Store, Mr. S. Ravi Kant, Chief Operating Officer - Eyewear Division, Titan Industries limited said, “In line with our scheduled expansion plans, we have crossed the milestone of 50 stores in a very short span of time and we intend to double our network in the next 1 year. Besides increasing our network size, we are continuously working towards launching new product collections, and offering the best contemporary designs and styles that match international trends and quality.”

The current Indian prescription eyewear market is sizeable, with nearly 30% of the population requiring vision correction. The sunglass category also has exhibited high growth and holds good promise. However, this vast market is characterized by a few indigenous optical brands operating in the mid to premium segment and several other unorganized players who offer low quality products at low prices. Therefore, the category offers a huge potential for a brand that offers style, trust and consistent quality to consumers, offered by the house of Tatas.

Titan Eye+ plans to be the dominant player in the eyewear industry offering optical solutions for varying consumer needs. The Titan Eye+ chain will leverage the company's retail and design expertise to offer a world-class optical store experience with a range of over 1,000 stylish products to help customers look their best. The Titan Eye+ stores market frames under the brands Titan, Eye+ and Dash (for children) brands, in addition to a host of international brands for frames and sunglasses. Conforming to Titan's exacting quality standards, the stores offer warranty upto one year on Titan products.

In terms of optical lenses, the company offers three brands – Essilor, Kodak and Titan lenses. To ensure Titan lenses are of world-class standards, they are produced in collaboration with Essilor, the world's largest lens manufacturer, and offer a six-month warranty. Titan Eye+ has entered into a technical pact with the renowned Sankara Nethralaya for training of their retail & optometric staff.
