11th annual Miami Fashion Week organizers are pleased to announce that special guest designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada, one of Spain's top designers known worldwide for her brightly-colored creations, will help culminate the event with a fashion show at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. The show will take place at SOHO Studios in Miami's trendy Wynwood Art District.

In the early 1980s, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada burst onto Spain's fashion scene in Madrid, and soon became one of the main promoters of the movida madrilne, a sociocultural revolution which took place in the city. She later incorporated her signature boldly-colored designs into household items, furniture, stationery products, technological items, jewelry, toys and more, as well as clothing for men, women, children and babies.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's exuberant, bright style has become a design sensation around the globe. She has stores in cosmopolitan locations including various cities in Spain, Milan, Santiago de Chile, New York, Oporto and more. In addition to being honored as special guest designer for Miami Fashion Week, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's 2009 Fall/Winter women's collections are being showcased in Madrid, Milan, Puerto Rico and Kuala Lumpur, while her children's collections will be shown in Florence and Lausanne. In addition, she will have a special retrospective exhibition at La Piscine de Roubaix in France.

Her impressive list of awards include the fashion Oscar in Italy for best foreign designer in 2004, the "Colombia es Pasion" Award for her support of young Colombian designers, the "Prix de la Moda" Award from Marie Claire magazine for the best professional trajectory, the "Top Glamour" Award from Glamour magazine for the best designer of the year and the "New Yorker" Award from the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce. She is also the author of the book La Moda Cmoda (Comfortable Fashion), published in 1988.

Miami Fashion Week, taking place from March 19-22, is the largest Hispanic and international fashion event in the U.S., bringing the best in Latin and international fashion, beauty, music, cuisine and art to the forefront of the American fashion scene.

For the third consecutive year, SOHO Studios in Miami's trendy Wynwood Art District will be transformed into a state-of-the-art fashion city, housing fashion shows, the jewelry and accessories marketplace, and sponsor lounges and displays. New for 2009 are an International Buyers' Salon and the International Culinary Arts Pavilion. A fashionable feast occurring nightly, the International Culinary Arts Pavilion features a different celebrity chef each evening that will create cuisine inspired by the native countries of the fashion designers being showcased that night. The International Culinary Arts Pavilion is being presented by Whole Foods Market, Johnson & Wales University, and A Joy Wallace Catering Production and Design Team.

As is the tradition at Miami Fashion Week, the event will culminate with the star-studded Miami Moda & Music Awards, a celebrity fashion and entertainment awards show featuring special guest designers, celebrities and international recording artists.
