As the five exciting and glamorous days of The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn / Winter 2009 are almost at an end, both Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and the title sponsor, Wills Lifestyle took the opportunity to felicitate two photo journalists for their most outstanding pictures shot at the fashion week.

The winners of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week: Best Photo Journalist Award were Priyanka Parashar (Business Standard, New Delhi) and Partha Sarkar (Xinhua News Agency, China). They were awarded with a trophy, a certificate of recognition and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/- each.

Judges felt, it was a tough call as all the entries were outstanding. The selection was based on how well the photographer could project the glamorous world of Fashion Photography.

“Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week: Best Photo Journalist Award was held with the intention of spotting that photographer who brings a fresh photographic style to the fashion industry, fashion media and above all, captures the essential spirit and quality of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week,” said Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI.

Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC's Lifestyle Retailing Business Division, said, “We use this opportunity to thank all photo journalists for lending their support to the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week and laud them for their efforts. For me each photo journalist is a winner.”

At the award giving ceremony, the winner of the third edition of 'The Debut', Megha Nagpal from Pearl Academy of Fashion, was also felicitated. 'The Debut', is a unique initiative by Wills Lifestyle that recognises India's young fashion talent. The contest was initiated two years ago in 2007.

Through each event, WIFW continues to set new standards and help its members achieve global benchmarks. WIFW AW 2009 is represented by some of the best and the most sought after designers.
