Talbots announces Senior Executive appointment

The Talbots Inc announced that it has named John Kovac Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer. In this newly created position, Mr. Kovac will oversee the Company's information technology initiatives and will report to Michael Scarpa, Talbots Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
“John brings extensive expertise in aligning key business functions with strategic financial controls and technology solutions to improve a company's performance,” said Mr. Scarpa. “We are very pleased to welcome John on board, as he will be instrumental in helping us establish critical financial and benchmarking practices that are necessary to operate in today's economic environment.”
With more than 15 years of expertise in information technology and supply chain operations, Mr. Kovac, 47, joins Talbots from Liz Claiborne, where he held various leadership roles including Interim Chief Information Officer, Vice President of Systems and Operations, and Vice President of Information Technology.
In these roles, he was responsible for the company's global systems and technology applications, network infrastructure and systems services supporting operations in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to Liz, Mr. Kovac held senior technology and computer services positions at Morgan Stanley and CIT. Additionally, over the past 15 years, he has held several consulting positions focused on financial decision-making applications.
Mr. Kovac holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the W. Paul Stillman School of Business at Seton Hall University, and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Cook College at Rutgers University. He currently resides in Warren, NJ and will relocate to the Boston area.
