On July 12th, 2009, Executive Producers of Portland Fashion Week (PFW) and Guest Panel Members hosted a two-hour Q&A forum with emerging and established designers, boutique/wholesale buyers, photographers, press, and members of the Portland market and community.

Following introductions by Martha Varella, the evening kicked off with executive producer of PFW, Chris Cone, who shared the benefits of being part of Portland Fashion Week and discussed the overall marketing strategy that PFW employs on behalf of its designers, the value of utilizing PFW for enhancing fashion business in Portland, and an overview of PFW's resources and partnerships.

The goal of Portland Fashion Week is to emphasize eco-responsible fashion, stage independent designers and draw national attention to Portland's unique intersection of art, commerce and sustainability. PFW is a week-long event that attracts national and international media attention.

For designers, the benefits of exposure during fashion week last long after the event is over, enabling them to grow their brand identity and build contacts and business within the fashion industry. This year, Portland Fashion Week is going to be partnered with Surface, SPIN, and Lufthansa in-flight magazines, bringing exposure for the series to nearly one million in print circulation alone.

In just the week preceding the Forum itself, PFW got its designers showcased throughout town, in a high profile display at The Nines Hotel, a live-model installation at the grand opening of Portland's newest Marriott, all through relationships PFW has developed with key influencers and uses throughout the year to benefit designers. Currently, IDOM Design is being featured at the Nines Hotel as one of the platform Portland Fashion Week designers. We're pleased that as a result, IDOM has seen increased traffic to its clothing stores during the duration of our effort.
