NTDTV to host 2nd Global Han Couture Design Competition/Fashion Show

One of the unforgettable runway fashion shows at the next Couture Fashion Week event in New York City will be a showcase of the winning designs from the Global Han Couture Design Competition. The fashion show will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the world-famous Waldorf Astoria hotel on New York's legendary Park Avenue.
On September 10th – 11th, New Tang Dynasty Television (NTDTV) will host the 2nd annual Global Han Couture Design Competition/Fashion Show. With over $40,000 in cash prizes for the winning designers, this competition has brought together some of the Asian community's best and brightest. Over 250 sets of Han Couture dresses designed by 60 designers worldwide will be presented in this runway show. The winners will then show their designs at Couture Fashion Week the next evening.
The Competition is aimed at fostering new designs that are inspired by the depth and inner meaning of 5,000 years of Chinese apparel. It will bring out the essence in beauty and style from the clothing of the Tang, Song, and Ming dynasties, which build upon ancient Chinese codes of conduct of benevolence, righteousness, courteousness, wisdom, and loyalty.
“Being a part of this competition is like being a part of a renaissance for Chinese culture,” says Amy Lee, one of the competition judges. “We want to promote traditional Chinese apparel that expresses pure kindness and beauty.”
The Han Couture Design Competition is a part of NTDTV's 2009 Global Competition Series. The series is a continuation of NTDTV's ongoing effort to revive the essence and beauty of traditional Chinese culture, and to share that culture with the world.
Couture Fashion Week is a multi-day event showcasing couture and luxury fashion. It also includes exhibits of luxury brands and fine art as well as world-class entertainment and receptions. The event is held in top venues in New York City, Dallas, Palm Beach, Florida and other selected cities and is attended by upscale consumers, invited VIPs, the press and high-end store buyers. Couture Fashion Week offers unique branding opportunities for luxury products and services.
