Rohit and Abhishek, and Sanjay Hingu recreated the grandeur of India at Lakme Fashion Week spring/summer 2010. With inspirations from royal India and colours like orange, rust, brown, purple and the eternal favourites – black and white; the designing duo of Rohit and Abhishek presented a men's wear line at Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 that was rich in style and silhouette.

Showing the evolution of the fashionable man to The New Pure man of 2010; the look reflected business and casual dressing in linen, cotton, satin and velvet for waist coats, Jodhpuri jackets, slim long lines and interesting detailing for trousers which were lean and low slung. The treatment given to conventional men's wear was noticeable in the cape sleeved rust Jodhpuri jacket worn with English khaki patched breeches, a striking purple jacquard patched coat with ombre breeches, deep brown formal Jodhpuri suit and a very interesting Jodhpuri tuxedo with golden shirt and black trousers.

Angarkha tunics, the Indian bundi or waist coat, striped satin lapel jackets and the return of the safari coat albeit in a new avatar, completed the collection. Breeches were the favoured option with jackets, waist coats, short or long kurtas and tunics. Red was a vibrant colour that the designing duo opted, for this retro bottom wear when it was teamed with a contrasting, almost military like khaki two pocket jacket.

Here was a collection that created masculine fashion magic on the catwalk by Rohit and Abhishek for men who go for the unconventional look in their wardrobes.

Fashion and the freedom movement have inspired designers for decades and so the Indian struggle for independence was the theme for Sanjay Hingu's look for men's wear at Lakme Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010.

For Sanjay it was the karma of the freedom fighters that gave rise to this collection on a colour palette which was sombre in shades of grey, for cotton and linen. From Gandhi and Nehru prints on jackets and Tees there were Subhash Chandra Bose and Sarojini Naidu who also embellished the garments and were the new fashion icon motifs for the coming season.

Opening the show with Jawaharlal Nehru's Independence Day speech at midnight, anjay sent a stylish grey jacket with zipper detailing on back, sides and sleeves to set the mood of the look. The western silhouettes started with a bomber jacket, shirts, pants, and Tees which were given touches of the theme in print while the trimming, piping and other unconventional effects like a one lapel for a jacket, the combo of jacket kurti and trouser and knits with multiple pocket flaps gave a new style dimension to men's wear.

Sanjay Hingu's men's wear for the coming season has that nostalgic retro influence which will surely make it timeless apparel with ethnic international touches for the male buyer.
