New ticker to further strengthens CATO brand

The Cato Corporation announced it will change its ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange from "CTR" to "CATO," effective at the start of trading on October 16, 2009. The change of the ticker symbol is a seamless process managed by the New York Stock Exchange such that trading of the stock is unaffected.

"The Cato name has represented quality and value in the retail industry for over 60 years. Our merchandise carries the Cato label and changing our ticker symbol to CATO further strengthens our brand," commented John Cato, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer. "The new symbol also helps shareholders better identify our stock and our company."
