Giles Deacon to be the special guest at PITTI W

GILES DEACON will be the special guest at the fifth edition of the Pitti W_Woman Precollection event, taking place in Florence on 12-15 January 2010. The event is held concurrently with the Pitti Immagine Uomo 77 fair.

“On Thursday evening, 14 January Giles will present the 2010 fall-winter women's precollection as part of a fashion event in a truly exceptional venue, the Sesto Fiorentino headquarters of Richard Ginori 1735 , the world famous Italian makers of fine and artistic porcelain.

“Giles is one of the brightest fashion talents on the fashion scene today”, says Raffaello Napoleone, CEO of Pitti Immagine.“ He is among the designers who are contributing to changing women's fashion: something that we are very interested to follow by presenting collection previews at Pitti W. And we are very curious to see what Giles is preparing for our January event”.

“I am delighted to be asked by such a prestigious organization to take part in the internationally acclaimed event, especially after being awarded the ANDAM prize and holding my first show in Paris. The Pitti event allows me to continue to reach a wide international audience“ says Giles Deacon.

The designer, an alumnus of Saint Martin's, launched his eponymous collection in 2004 after having worked at Bottega Veneta and the Gucci Group.

His first show, styled by Katie Grand with music by Steve Mackay, the Pulp guitar, included models Eva Herzigova and Nadja Auermann, instant proof of industry support. The Giles collections are known for their strong and unique prints, which draw on Giles Deacon's skill as an established illustrator. The Giles met with widespread press acclaim and is carried by most respected stores in the world such as Barney's, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges, Colette, 10 Corso Como and Dover Street Market.

In 2004 Giles received the 'Best New Designer' award at the British Fashion Awards and in November 2006 was named British Designer of the Year.

In 2009, after having won the prestigious ANDAM award, given by the French Ministry of Culture and the Pierre Berge Foundation, and partnering with Castor, the Mantua clothing manufacturer, Giles's 2010 Spring Summer collection show in Paris met with overwhelming approval.

The Giles collection is produced and distributed worldwide by CASTOR Srl of Mantua; a long list of celebrities including Thandie Newton, Kate Moss, Drew Barrymore, Kylie Minogue, Lily Allen and Daphne Guinness wear his creations.
