Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW), India's premier fashion and trade event, announced its designers and sponsors, for LFW Summer/ Resort 2010, at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. N. Rajaram – Vice President, Lakmé; Anil Chopra - Advisor, Lakmé; Ravi Krishnan – Managing Director, IMG – South Asia and Sujal Shah – Head of Fashion, IMG – India, unveiled the names of the participating 61 designers and 13 sponsors.

Addressing the requirements of domestic buyers and designers, LFW will commence a month prior than previous seasons to focus on the current/upcoming season. Taking a step ahead, LFW has introduced the concept of a formal Resort platform for Indian designers aimed at increasing exposure for Indian designers to buyers, media and the fashion industry both in India and abroad.

LFW's constant endeavor is to promote quality and ensure high standards of excellence in designer participation. Thus, LFW will see eight designers in the GenNext category, seven designers in Emerging and 40 established designers showcasing their remarkable collections and six accessory designers.

The five day trade event will see celebrated designer Christopher Kane, described as 'unrivalled on the fashion circuit' by Anna Wintour and recent winner of the British Fashion Council's Designer of the Year, present his Summer Resort 2010 collection exclusively and presented by LAKMÉ STUDIO & CATWALK by TIGI. Kane's participation is a significant step in LFW's mission of 'Integrating India into the Global Fashion'.

All designers will showcase their garments for buyers and media from India and across the globe from countries like Saudi Arabia, South Africa, UAE, UK and US.

Every season LFW is widely supported by heavyweights from different industries as sponsors; that make the prestigious event more enterprising. This season, Gitanjali, Samira Habitats, ŠkodaAuto, Philips, DHL, iNIFD, Grey Goose and Kingfisher continue to illustrate their support while new sponsors like Killer and TresMode are also collaborating with LFW. Hotel Grand Hyatt, Mumbai remains the official venue and hospitality partner.

N. Rajaram, Vice President – Lakmé said, “The contemporary Indian woman who makes bold statements yet percolates a sense of subtle class - this is the Lakmé woman. The Lakmé 'night fever' look for the grand finale will complement Suneet Verma's style and will enthuse fashion by capturing a beautiful feminine independence through a collection that inspires a mid summer's night laced with flair for freedom. This season, we will see collections with the perfect blend of Summer & Resort, one that will bring forth a new trend in the Business of Fashion.”
