rapidly changing times. Observing that designers are showing for the current season and not the following one, along with buyers placing orders for immediate delivery, we took the step to title and focus on the current season i.e. Summer. Further terms such as Spring and Autumn have no relevance in Indian seasons, hence been dropped. The huge increase in number of applying designers is testimony that the change has been the right one. We are also delighted to have Christopher Kane, winner of the British designer of the year award, show at LFW. This is a major step in our mission of 'integrating India into the global fashion world'; we look forward to more outstanding international talent at the LFW platform in the coming seasons.”
Ravi Krishnan, Managing Director – IMG - South Asia said, "After successfully completing 10 years of promoting Indian fashion last season, LFW has set a benchmark in bringing together the best talent to showcase international creative excellence in Indian fashion. As thought leaders, our endeavor is to introduce the best practices and facilitate business collaborations for the Indian designers. The strategic shift is an initiative in the interest of the industry and we are affirmative that it will not only increase business but help in the growth of the overall industry. We would like to thank all our partners who have played an important role in establishing us as a premier fashion trade event. Their continuous support, insight and belief in the property has made the journey enriching and the platform enterprising.”
Sujal Shah, Head of Fashion – IMG India added, “LFW is known for its innovation, bringing newer concepts and customizing them to suit the domestic and global fashion markets. With this season's introduction of Resort Wear, LFW moves a step forward in redefining the future of fashion, encouraging the growth of such categories and increasing buyer interest.”
