EARTHTEC partners with eco-committed university

EARTHTEC, an innovative eco-conscious lifestyle apparel company, is partnering with the University of New Hampshire (UNH) for a green giveaway at one of the most exciting men's hockey games of the year. Fans attending the highly-anticipated March 5th face-off between the UNH Wildcats and Boston College will receive complementary eco-friendly fleece hats.
These earth-friendly hats, made entirely out of recycled plastic bottles, will not only give hockey fans something of value (a practical, reusable item) but also an opportunity to do something for the environment - fewer plastic bottles sitting in landfills.
EARTHTEC produces “accountable apparel” by turning recycled plastic water bottles into comfortable, functional, and affordable clothing. Based in Portsmouth, NH, EARTHTEC is one of the first companies of its kind. Each garment in the EARTHTEC collection uses approximately 12 recycled water bottles.
“We're thrilled to partner with one of the top eco-committed Universities in the world with a reputation for its ongoing and unwavering commitment to sustainability,” said Dennis Randall, Owner and CEO of EARTHTEC. “Working with UNH on this hat giveaway is just the first of many initiatives in which we can partner and prevent thousands of plastic bottles from winding up in landfills.”
UNH is a leader in conserving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and integrating sustainability throughout its curricula, operations, research, and engagement efforts. UNH has earned many accolades for its sustainability initiatives, including awards and recognition from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, Sustainable Endowments Institute, Sierra Club, Princeton Review, and Business NH Magazine.
Highlights of its sustainability commitment include EcoLine, an innovative landfill gas-to-energy project that will provide up to 85 percent of the university's energy needs; having the largest transit system in the state; being the first in the nation to receive an EPA Energy Star building rating for residence halls; a new EcoGastronomy dual major; a graduate certificate in sustainability politics and policy; and innovative research and engagement efforts like Carbon Solutions New England and the NH Farm to School program.
“UNH is home to the nation's first endowed office of sustainability in higher education and this partnership with EARTHTEC is another example of our innovative and unwavering commitment to environmentally-friendly practices,” said UNH President Mark W. Huddleston. “It's very rewarding to partner with a company right here in our backyard that has a similar commitment to sustainability.”
