When two great fashion names come together, the result has to be sensational. Killer Jeans, creators of best selling denim collections for over two decades brought onto the fashion catwalk ace designer, Narendra Kumar's sensational inter galactic denim collection for Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/ Resort 2010.

Two giant globes suspended from the ceiling were lit to create a galaxy of heavenly bodies in the hall. To a dramatic display of laser lights on the ramp and an overture of Richard Strauss's famous “Also Sprach Zarathustra” the show revealed a collection of men's and women's denim wear all set to move to the final frontier - space.

Killer Jeans had in the past given to the Indian fashion lovers the Worn Out jeans, Low Rise Jeans, the Shreds, and Raw Jeans and the Squeeze slim line version in denim which were all hot sellers over the years for the brands.

Now with Narendra Kumar at the helm, the collection was fabulous and fun for casual and formal wear lovers. Narendra worked around a clever blend of luxurious ethnic inspirations and modern shapes giving his collection for Killer Jeans a 21st century style statement.

The show opened with Sara Jane Dias, Miss India 2007 in a white gown with black geometric appliqués on the bodice. The creations that followed showed denim wear in an unconventional avatar with washes, textures and body hugging shapes. Sprayed, laminated, bleached and coloured, the denim was shredded, dyed and patched. Men's jacket had net insets or was contoured with piping and contrast patches. Trench and long coats, biker and cropped jackets, with military style detailing, epaulets and zippers were ideal for a trip to the moon. Women's wear was short and sexy for the form fitted dresses, tiny tops and skinny jeans ideal for the cocktail hour. Accents on the shoulder and waist brought in the “V” silhouette for the future.

Neil Nitin Mukesh, the star of popular movies like New York and Jail, ended the show wearing a sharply cut denim jacket with leather trims.

Here was great denim wear, which will take the style conscious through the day and into the night with garments that have that distinct fashion sensibility, that only Narendra Kumar and Killer Jeans can effortless combine.
