CPI – Collection Première Istanbul will celebrate its premier from 26 to 28 August 2010 at the historic Taskisla Campus at the Istanbul University of Technology.

This was announced by the organizing Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter's Association (ITKIB) and the Düsseldorf-based Igedo Company. Thus CPI, which will present roughly 500 selected international and Turkish brands in the fashion and lifestyle metropolis Istanbul, will take place within the framework of the Istanbul Fashion Week. Registration documents will be mailed after Easter, and the official website containing extensive information on all aspects of the event will go live in the next few weeks. Exhibitor inquiries can already be directed to the mailbox at cpi@igedo.com.

"With the Taskisla Campus we and our partner, the Igedo Company, have been able to acquire a top location in the heart of Istanbul for the exciting CPI project. CPI is destined to become more an event than a trade fair," explained ITKIB President Hikmet Tanriverdi.

Mirjam Dietz, Executive Director Fashion at the Igedo Company, continues, "The location literally oozes creativity and inspiration, is only a few minutes away from the Istanbul Fashion Week by foot, and will lend CPI a very special aura. In short:The Taskisla Campus will light up the industry." The Taskisla Campus was constructed between 1848 and 1953 as a medicinal academy for the Ottoman army. Today it is among the most impressive historical buildings in Istanbul. The building now houses the Architecture Institute.

In the course of the past two decades Turkey has established itself as the leading production capacity in the European fashion industry. In the sixth largest European national economy, the textile and apparel industry is one of the key industries. One quarter of the country's exports is made up of fashion and textiles.

At the same time the Turkish industry is in a major transition and is relying more and more heavily upon the development and marketing of its own brands that are developed with Turkish and international designers. And the fashion business plays out primarily in Istanbul, the largest goods-handling location in the Near/Middle East with a strong presence in Europe.

From time immemorial, Istanbul has had a strong influence on the fashion and apparel industry. With twelve million inhabitants, the city between the Orient and the Occident inspires the industry with its fascinating mixture of cultures, and has always been considered to be a major trade centre for Europe and the Middle East. Thus CPI will fill an overdue gap for fashion.
