Lingerie retailer Etam Developpement posts stable like-for like sales

Women's ready-to-wear clothing & lingerie retailer Etam Developpement released the sales results of third quarter of 2005.
Net pre-tax sales for the third quarter of 2005 came to €201.9 million, up 7.3 percent compared with sales for the 3rd quarter of 2004.
On a like-for-like basis, the Group's activity was stable (up 0.1 percent, reflecting -3.2 percent in France and +20.8 percent in China). In France, the third quarter activity saw good margins, especially during sales.
Nine months to 30 September Net pre-tax sales at 30 September 2005 totalled €621.3 million, up 5.3 percent compared with sales at 30 September 2004. This figure includes negative currency translation of €2.7 million due to the depreciation of the Chinese currency versus the euro year on year over the first nine months.
On a like-for-like basis, Group business was down slightly (-0.4 percent, reflecting -2.1 percent in France and +8.3 percent in China).
Leading French fashion group Etam founded in 1916. The company is now an international group in the market for women's fashions (ready-to-wear, lingerie and accesories). Its business is the retail sale of fashion products specially tailored for its exclusively female customers. The company firstly focused on the lingerie business, the Group opened its first ready-to-wear stores in the 1960's. After many years of strong growth, and in order to prepare its developement ambitions, the Group has been listed for trading on the Paris stock Exchange since1997.
