Likhacheva brings SUNLIGHT to Oxford Fashion Week

Zinaida Likhacheva, a Ukrainian designer and artist, will present her original collection at the Style Show, the opening event of Oxford Fashion Week 2010 on May 1, 2010. This is the first time that Oxford Fashion Week features a designer from Ukraine. Ms. Likhacheva will present her debut SUNLIGHT Collection, an artful synthesis of ETHNO and MODERN. The Sunlight Collection promises to be an outstanding experience: ethnic motifs, modern cuts, natural materials and colors, hand-made embroidery, and mystic geometric elements. What makes these cutting-edge designs stand out are their enigmatic SLAVIC SYMBOLS.
"I'm very excited to have an opportunity to show-case fashion design from Ukraine," Zinaida Likhacheva told OFW. "Under the NASHE FASHION brand, I combine thousand-year-old Ukrainian art traditions, mystical Slavic geometries, color and decorative patterns with modern fashion trends to make smart casual outfits for woman that stand apart from the humdrum."
The GEOMETRIC cut of the clothing adds mystery, rhythm and energy. The SUNLIGHT Collection is modern ethnic chic with an urban beat. The entire range, including dresses and skirts, draws together female energy and allows any woman wearing it to radiate warmth and light, and move in a harmonious symphony of COLOR, LINE and RHYTHM.
"Having thoroughly studied the symbols in Ukrainian embroidery, I have come to the conclusion that the mystic art of my ancestors will appeal to a new generation," said Zinaida Likhacheva. "It will become their talisman, a never-ending link between the past, present and future."
Zinaida Likhacheva is an artist, designer and the originator of this Collection's concept. The SUNLIGHT designs are a logical continuation of her work as an artist with decorative patterns, embroidery, painting on cloth and ceramics, decorative ironwork, and contemporary ethnic fashion. To develop the SUNLIGHT Collection, Ms. Likhacheva worked with the young designer and Slavic mythology expert Letitsia Kovaliova.
Over 100 collections are being presented at Oxford Fashion Week, from established High Street brands to up-and-coming graduates of the London College of Fashion, from award-winning young photographers to famous names in the fashion press, from lingerie designs endorsed by royalty to high fashion endorsed by celebrities.
