FDDI to organize Logo Design Competition

Center for Retail Management is organizing a 'Logo Design Competition' for cohorts PG Diploma in Retail Management(PGDRM)& Diploma in Fashion Merchandising & Retail Management (DFMRM) of the Footwear Design & Development Institute (FDDI).

“As modern retail spreads its tentacles, for any category of products, whether grocery, apparel, furniture or even durables, tailor-made promotional materials are required of which 'Logo' is the main constituent hence the 'Logo Design Competition' is being organized in FDDI to assess the creativity of the students.” - Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI.

The 'Logo Design Competition' is a part of the VM Competition the theme of which is 'Jharokha - The Glimpses of Visuals' which is an annual inter-college competition organized by FDDI at the Noida Campus.

The Indian modern retail sector, which witnessed a phase of consolidation from the second half of 2008 till well into 2009, has gone through a learning phase.

Having weathered the storm, organised retailers are now looking ahead, chalking out growth plans and eyeing profitability through better merchandise mix, improved customer programmes, better sourcing and cost control in all aspects of operations the base of which is a logo.

According to Mr. Rajeev Lakhara, IRS, Managing Director, FDDI said, “As modern retail spreads its tentacles, for any category of products, whether grocery, apparel, furniture or even durables, tailor-made promotional materials are required of which 'Logo' is the main constituent hence the 'Logo Design Competition' is being organized in FDDI to assess the creativity of the students.”

“The purpose of the 'Logo Design Competition' is to foster a synergy within the design disciplines and to further build a creative and dynamic teaching and learning environment, adding value to the services and opportunities to students so as to meet the future needs of the retail sector”, elaborated Mr. Lakhara.

The selected mnemonic (logo) will be part of the annual VM Competition and will be displayed on all promotional materials of the event.

The top 3 selected entries will be awarded a certificate of Appreciation. Best entry will be awarded a trophy on the day of the VM Competition and the entry will be printed on all promotional materials of VM Competition.

It is expected that this novel step from CRM, FDDI will prove to encourage creativity and tapping talent of the youngsters of today to experiment with creativity and innovation.
