JD Institute of Fashion Technology hosts Design Awards

Close to 57 garments divided in 12 collections and 20 selected student designers were presented and the their finest collections inspired by fashion/ lifestyle and culture of countries like Austria, Ireland, Iceland, Greece fused with India.
This demands a complete research work and the theme analysis. To supplement the theoretical report comes the pictorial detailing in the form of mood board.
The designers were made to undergo the stage to rationalize their thoughts and ideas, after which the filtered designs are made to, get more graceful and gorgeous with illustrations and presentation techniques.
The JD INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY is renowned in the industry for the presentation quality, which is shown time and again through their work.
The judges who were part of the event:-
MR. RIYAZ GANGJI:- Riyaz Gangji started with a store that customized design wear for bridegrooms called Libas. The Libas label specializes in contemporary and ethnic men and women's wear.
MR. TROY COSTA:- His creations have been flaunted in almost 35 mainstream Bollywood films. His clientele boasts of creative channel heads, budding architects, celebrities as well as corporate head honchos.
MR. A. D. SINGH:- A. D. Singh launched his haute couture label “A.D. Singh” in 2005 and his designs have marked a clear presence with fan following and a client list from bollywood and all over the world.
MS KIRAN JAISINGHANI:- Kiran Jaisinghani along with her friend Meghna Agarwal gave birth to MYOHO - a seamless confluence of inspiration ethnicity and feminity.
MS SHOBHA SOMANI:- Launched the label “Sushobhit” in the year 1984. “Sushobhit” as the name suggests means “to enhance your personality” is the motto of Ms. Shobha Somani.
Mr. Chandrakant Dalal the President of JD institute said “I am really excited as we enter 22 years of existence and its fantastic to see the creativity of the present students and the great achievements of ex-jediiians like Rocky S., Shane and Falguni Peacock, Mheka Mirpuri, Sanjay Hingu etc and now the JD Annual Design Award 2010 celebrated Pan India with happenings at Bengaluru, Delhi, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Guwahati & Dibrugarh.
Like every year the students are trained, grilled and pushed hard for innovations. That's the quality which distinguishes a jediiian from the crowd.
Mr. Riyaz Gangji was overwhelmed to see the experiments by the young designers and asked them to keep on exploring new ideas and techniques for design development.
Adding to this Mr. Troy Costa said “Its time that international influence saw a lot of Indian direction because this will not only create new designs but also will have a strong foothold of the Indian fashion world wide”. He also said that this reminds him his days of JD annual design awards and his winning the award.
