Siraj Sanad brings luxurious collection to CFW

In his first appearance at Couture Fashion Week, award-winning fashion designer Siraj Sanad will present his latest collection of men's and women's designs. The fashion show will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday September 12, 2010 in the renowned Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria on Park Avenue, New York City.
A native of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Sanad studied at the Higher Institute for Financial and Commercial Sciences in Jeddah before going on to work in several fields including teaching, management and marketing. He later studied marketing and public relations in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Mr. Sanad is considered to be one of the most influential fashion designers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, with clients including famous Middle Eastern singers Yuri Marqadi, Rabeh Saqr, Rashed Al-Majed, Abbas Ibrahim, Mohammad Khalawi, Abdul Majeed Abdullah and Mohammed Abdu, and Cameroonian soccer star Samuel Eto as well as many major figures in the arts and sports arenas, top businessmen, politicians and other VIPs.
In 2005 Mr. Sanad was commissioned by H.R.H. Prince Sultan Bin Fahd to design outfits for the first Islamic Solidarity Games and he created 3,000 garments within 20 days for the event. Also in 2005, at the behest of H.R.H. Prince Faisal Bin Abdul Majeed, Mr. Sanad designed a special costume for acclaimed Saudi singer Mohammed Abdu for his performance at the Jeddah Festival; the design was inspired by Jeddah's famous Red Sea Bride fountain.
In 2006 H.R.H. Prince Nawwaf Bin Faisal Bin Fahd commissioned Mr. Sanad to design the outfits for the Saudi national soccer team for the World Cup held in Germany. He also designed the national uniforms for the Saudi delegation to the Beijing Olympics, the special uniform of the Ministry of Hajj for the year 1429H, and the special uniform for the Saudi Tourism Authority, among other national garb. Mr. Sanad also designed the outfits for the performers at the 20th annual Al-Janadria Festival which were distinguished by elaborate embroidery derived from the Arabic word for "twenty".
Mr. Sanad launched his signature fashion label in 2004. He is known for his technique of embellishing his designs with lavish Arabic calligraphy, an art form in itself. He has appeared on numerous television programs and is a regular sponsor of the popular Saudi television show "Adam" starring Yousef Al-Jarrah broadcast on MBC. In Spring 2010 he presented his latest designs on the catwalk at the "Jeddah My Love" event in Lebanon along with fellow Saudi designer Hanan Al-Madani.
