BFC to take leading emerging fashion talents to Paris

Oct '10
The British Fashion Council's (BFC) international design initiative LONDON show ROOMS will once again be taking London's leading emerging fashion talents to Paris, following a successful London Fashion Week, to increase their presence and develop their businesses internationally with help from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).

Over the past year LONDON show ROOMS has grown to include a showroom in New York and the launch of London show ROOMS MEN in Paris last June, both of which were in partnership with the Centre for Fashion Enterprise.

LONDON show ROOMS will open in Paris from 1st – 8th October in 1er Arrondissement at JTM Gallerie, 40 Rue Richelieu. The showroom is a partially subsidised space for designers to sell their collections with the support of international marketing, media and sales advisers. Sarah Mower, the BFC's Ambassador for Emerging Talent, and chair of the NEWGEN selection committee, will host a private preview from 11am – 2pm on Friday 1st where designer collections will be showcased on models from NEXT Models.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC, comments “LONDON show ROOMS has become a key destination for press and buyers in Paris over the past four seasons and this one will be no exception. This talented collective had a great response during London Fashion Week and the showrooms provide the perfect environment to view 22 collections under one roof and meet the designers.”

Barbara Wilson, UKTI Fashion International Trade Adviser, comments, “UK Trade & Investment is delighted to be working with the British Fashion Council to support London's emerging talent and feel it is crucial in revitalising the UK's international proposition in the Fashion Sector”.

Designers selected to participate have received sponsorship through the BFC's designer support scheme NEWGEN, supported by Topshop, or part of independent talent showcase Fashion East. This season Les Chiffoniers are a special guest of the showrooms.
