The Fair Featured the Participation of 76 New Exhibitors
This edition of MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL featured the participation of a total of 305 companies and more than 700 Spanish and foreign brands. These high levels of participation made Feria de Madrid an ideal venue for professionals to discover the latest new ideas in footwear and leather goods for next Spring-Summer 2011 over a period of three days. The collections at the fair were presented by a series of important brands from the industry, including Pons Quintana, Magrit, Chie Mihara, Paco Gil, Castañer, Jaime Mascaró, Pura López and Rebeca Sanver, among others.

At this edition, the fair featured the participation of some 76 new exhibitors and the attendance of 160 brands that were not present at the September 2009 edition. This figure could indicate a certain recovery for an industry that, edition after edition, relies on the fair in order to provide an insight into its current state of health.

Coinciding with the trade exhibition, MODACALZADO + IBERPIEL also successfully organised an attractive Activities Programme, including the IDEASLAB Area, which consisted of a forum devoted to promoting know-how and innovation within the footwear field. This area was divided into two distinct sections. In the Innovation Section at IDEASLAB, the Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries (INESCOP) presented the "Magic Mirror," a futuristic footwear visualiser that enabled users to try on a series of different models of footwear that had been previously personalised in accordance with their tastes and needs.

For its part, the Know-How Section once again provided a meeting forum for a number of renowned professionals to tackle some of the key issues relating to the development of the footwear industry, such as the evolution of design, sales techniques and trade management. Furthermore, for the second consecutive year, this same section presented an exhibition of the winning projects and finalists in the "IDEASLAB Footwear Awards for Creative Talent." Furthermore, the FICE initiative entitled "Show Me Your Shoes ... and Win," which consisted of photographing visitors' shoes and awarding a Polaroid camera to the winner, was also very warmly received by members of the industry attending the fair. The winner on this occasion was Christian Reinado.

The IDEASLAB Area is promoted by FICE (within the framework of the campaign "Zapatos de España" / "Shoes from Spain") and enjoys the support of the Institute for Small and Medium-Sized Industry of Valencia (IMPIVA) through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and the State Company for the Development of Design and Innovation (ddi) attached to the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, not to mention the collaboration of both the Technological Institute for Footwear and Related Industries (INESCOP) and IFEMA.

MODACALZADO also provided the framework for the presentation of theexhibition entitled "The World at Your Feet," organised by the Footwear Museum of Elda, which brought together some 40 footwear models from all five continents throughout the world.
