Safeguarding fashion industry in Manhattan borough

21
Oct '10
A rally has been organized to support the businesses to remain positive in the current situation, marked by escalating rents, economic slowdown and outsourcing. The district authorities as well as the people of the area are expected to uphold the budding talents so that the country's fashion industry continues to develop.

A minor assistance is all that is required to sustain the fashion industry in the district. Safeguarding the fashion industry in the Manhattan borough is expected to be a decisive step towards sustaining New York's position as the fashion capital of the globe.

Fashion industry workers have urged the city authorities to extend more help in order to maintain the fashion industry. The government has been requested to impose higher tariffs on garments manufactured in foreign countries and withdraw the sales tax imposed on apparels manufactured in US.

Fashion designers have demanded for fresh incentives and tax credits to motivate the businesses to continue in the Manhattan borough. The future of the fashion industry is considered to be bleak without the Garment Center.

Having everyone associated with the fashion industry in a single place right from designers to sewers is considered to be a major advantage of working in the city. This is believed to be the most stimulating part of New York fashion industry.
