SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Fair, which is organised by IFEMA, is promoting the group participation of Spanish clothing and accessory companies at the first edition of São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter, the International Clothing and Fashion Accessories Fair, which is due to take place between 18th and 21st January 2011, coinciding with the thirty-seventh edition of Couromoda, the leading event for the footwear and leather goods sector in Latin America.

This initiative by SIMM, which serves as a key point of reference for the clothing industry in Spain, forms part of the policy pursued by different fairs organised by IFEMA in terms of promoting the international dimension of their fair activities and the Spanish companies that take part at their events, based on a series of different measures. These fairs also seek to focus more closely on new foreign markets. Specifically, participation through SIMM at {19 São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter constitutes an excellent opportunity for Spanish companies to carry out prospecting activities within the Brazilian market, whilst also establishing contact with other Latin American countries that visit the fair.

"Despite the fact that Brazil currently has some very high tariff rates, which, in principle, make it difficult for European products to enter the country, other countries such as Italy and France are already exporting to Brazil, which is why Spain should not miss this opportunity to be present at this fair", declares Pola Iglesias, the Director of SIMM.

The first edition of São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter, which is due to be staged in coincidence with Couromoda, will feature some 400 exhibiting companies from the clothing, knitwear and fashion accessory sectors in Brazil and other countries. The fair will take place in the modern halls at EXPO CENTER NORTE, one of the most versatile exhibition centers in Brazil, a venue that features comprehensive business facilities and the very best services for visitors. During the course of São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter and Couromoda, a bus shuttle service will connect the two fairs so that buyers and visiting professionals can tour both events freely.

São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter is a fair belonging to the Couromoda Group, one of the most prestigious Brazilian organisations within the field of trade promotion. This company owns and organises three important and leading fairs in Latin America, within the field of footwear and fashion (COUROMODA), health (HOSPITALAR) and beauty care (HAIR BRASIL).

The Couromoda Group's experience as an organiser of fairs in São Paulo that are renowned throughout the whole of Latin America and the coincidence of its new event with Couromoda, promise a strong exhibition at São Paulo Prêt-à-Porter made up of both domestic and foreign participants, one that is capable of attracting a good number of fashion buyers and distributors, thus ensuring the success of a grand International Fashion Week in São Paulo. In this respect, Fashion Week is destined to definitely establish this Brazilian city as a key venue in the diaries of fashion professionals throughout Brazil and the rest of South America.
