Winners from the 2011 iD International Emerging Designer Awards will show their collections at the iD Dunedin Fashion Show on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 April 2011.
A number of quality entries for the jewellery design section were received however not a sufficient number to make the category competitive on an international scale.
Quotes
Tanya Carlson, Carlson
“We are pleased to see so many New Zealand and Australian finalists alongside entries received from Malaysia, Hong Kong, Israel, India, USA, Croatia and Estonia. It's exciting for finalists to gather in Dunedin, experience this competition and meet other graduate designers from other institutions across the world. The fabric technology, skills and new methods of making clothes alongside the textiles designers are embracing is really inspiring. It's a huge achievement to get into this fashion competition as the calibre of entrants this year has been very high compared to previous years.”
Margi Robertson, Nom*D“
What's really incredible for emerging designers is to be able to present the whole spirit of their creativity on a runway. There are very few opportunities for new designers to be able to do this outside of their learning institutions. As a fashion designer you never stop being judged. Alongside a highly credible judging panel these collections will also be judged by a discerning audience including the people of Dunedin.”
