There are advantages of investing in an expensive shoe.
Usually, an expensive shoe is made of better materials and thus lasts longer but sometimes the shoe's price depends on its availability. Rarer the model, costlier it gets.
Michael Fink, Senior Fashion Director at Saks Fifth Avenue, in New York City explains that a $14000 shoe has importance because of its materials.
Leather and the pattern and type of wood used, the jewels, hand done beads, uniqueness of the feathers (because a lot of shoes with feathers are using feathers that can't be gathered anymore, from the archives of the couture feather houses), certain shoes have a specific curved heel, and the way it is attached to the footbed is very mechanical and difficult, so engineering, is also important. All these aspects contribute to the price-tag.
