Nikki Lane & Tencel join New York Denim Days

Tencel branded fibres by Lenzing and vintage denim seller Nikki Lane are set to participate in New York Denim Days expo, from September 21 to 23, 2018. New York Denim Days is based on Amsterdam Denim Days. The Denim Days expo will put a spotlight on global denim scene, by uniting the denim community and consumers, brands and buyers from all over the world.
Derived from nature, Lenzing’s Tencel denim is made from sustainably harvested trees, to provide softness and performance with a low impact on the environment. As title sponsor, Tencel will create a shop-in-shop stocked with a selection of garments using its fibre from top brands, including 3X1, Mavi, Reformation, Godfather of Denim, and more.
Nikki Lane, the Nashville-based country singer/songwriter and proprietor of the vintage boutique High Class Hillbilly, will headline the free Denim Days outdoor concert. Shoppers and fans can purchase her hand-selected vintage offerings inside the Denim Days festival.
Denim Days will welcome a selection of speakers for the Denim Talks speaker series featuring Q&As, panels, and lectures. Confirmed speakers include Abrima Erwiah, whose brand Studio 189 just won the CFDA + Lexus Fashion Initiative.
A fresh crop of denim books will be seen at New York Denim Days. Authors include Amy Leverton (Denim Dudes, Denim: Street Style, Vintage, Obsession), Doug Gunn and Roy Lucket (Worn x Kingpins, The Vintage Showroom: An Archive of Menswear); Nick Williams (Denim Branded: Jeanswear’s Evolving Design Details) and more. The New York Denim Days book store will be stocked with these and other denim-related titles.
Cult-favourite brand Atelier & Repairs is an initiative to eliminate the world’s excess, one stitch at a time. They have a mission to not create anything new, but instead transform what already exists. For Denim Days, Atelier & Repairs will challenge students of New York City’s Fashion High School to transform a $5 T-shirt into a garment of their own design. The winner will receive a mentorship by Atelier & Repairs creator Maurizo Donadi. (GK)
